The film ‘here before’ ponders the nature of human consciousness and what form this consciousness takes when we disconnect from our physical forms. Based on transcripts of near death experiences, the script narrates the incidences of two people who have undergone a transformation into a non-physical form. Navigating between descriptions of elation, confusion and fear, both protagonists relate feelings of heightened sensory abilities and of being beyond the physical realm as they transform into a more animal form.

The work incorporates found 16mm footage with 4k filmed imagery and is intended as a single screen 4k film.
