Martin Healy works with photography, film and sculpture to explore the cultural and symbolic paradigms that underpin human mythologies and belief systems. The ideological and cultural imperatives used to shape our concept of ‘nature’ is a focus for much of his work and subjects as diverse as our perception of time to the symbolic uses of the animal in culture, become starting points for bodies of research that synthesise fact, fiction and mythology.

He lives and works in Dublin and his works have been shown widely both nationally and internationally. International residencies include CCA, Andratx, Mallorca, 2022; Cove Park, Scotland, 2014; Temple Bar Gallery & Studios / HIAP-International Residency Exchange, Helsinki, 2010; Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, 2008; Artists’ Residency Programme at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, 2007; the International Studio Programme Residency at PS1 Contemporary Art Centre, New York, 2000/01.
